Take advantage of a rare opportunity to visit the three-masted tall ship, Friendship as she sails into Newburyport for a three day visit.  Hop on board and learn about the rigors and rituals of sea-faring life in the late 18th century when Newburyport enjoyed maritime supremacy.

An educational vessel and National Park Service emissary to the region, Friendship is a full scale replica of the original ship built in 1796.  The three-masted, square-rigged, 342-ton vessel was an “East Indiaman,” a type of merchant ship that made Salem and Newburyport leaders in trade with the Far East in the years after the American Revolution.
