The Essex Heritage Photo Contest encourages community members of all ages to head outdoors and capture the living landscapes, unique places, and iconic vistas located in their backyard. Each year, photographers of all levels submit stunning images of the Essex National Heritage Area (Essex County, MA) for a chance to win prizes including cash ($300 – Grand Prize, $100 – 1st Place Prize, $75 – 2nd Place Prize, and $50 3rd Place Prize per each category), as well as gift cards and complimentary memberships which are generously donated by local businesses and organizations.

The 2025 winners have been selected! All winning photographs will be on display in the Salem Armory Regional Visitor Center for 8 weeks starting March 3rd. Please join us for a free special reception to celebrate the winners on Wednesday, March 11th starting at 5:30 pm. The reception is free to attend and all are welcome, but don’t forget to RSVP. Stay tuned for information on the 2026 contest, details forthcoming.

Next, fill out an entry form, you may do this online or you can download the form and submit it to PhotoContest@EssexHeritage.org.

If your submission requires a model release, you can download the model release form below and submit it to PhotoContest@EssexHeritage.org.

The deadline for the 2025 contest has passed.

To finish up, click here to pay the $10 entry fee electronically. *Note: If you prefer to submit any materials or payments via snail mail, no problem!
