Essex Heritage Announces
2008 Grant Recipients &
Elects New Commissioners at Lynn Museum
I certainly hope that the Independence Day holiday weekend was pleasant for all of you. The timing of the holiday coming on a Friday certainly allowed for plenty of time to enjoy events with family and friends. This particular holiday is such a great time for family events. There are fireworks displays and parades and events for children in virtually all of the communities in this region, and coming as it does in the middle of the summer, it is a wonderful time to celebrate the “birthday” of this wonderful country. Backyard cook-outs, and community holiday gatherings are what makes this region of the Commonwealth such a special place. Some of the best holiday fireworks displays in this country take place in this region, and in many places the wonderful backdrop of the ocean is such a spectacular canvas. The backdrop of the National Park Service’s Friendship in Salem, and the extraordinary display choreographed to music in Danvers are two of the finest displays in the region.
Essex Heritage Awards Grants and Conducts an Annual Meeting
On the morning of June 10, 2008, at the Lynn Museum the Essex Heritage conducted its semi-annual meeting. This year, Essex Heritage combined its annual report on activities with the announcement of the Essex Heritage Partnership Grant award winners. We were particularly pleased that morning to have Senator Tom McGee who represents the southern end of this region on hand to welcome the attendees to his home town of Lynn. The grants that were awarded that morning are available here in pdf format...
