Event Hosts: It's time to get creative! Start planning now - event submission has begun! We seek all kinds of experiences and invite any heritage organization or business to consider offering a unique, free event that provides residents and visitors the chance to connect and experience your special place. It's a great way to build public awareness and audience for your cause, mission and organization. Email Emily to get involved and add your organization to the TRAILS & SAILS line-up! The event submission deadline for printed guide is June 20, 2013!
What is TRAILS & SAILS?
Coordinated by the Essex National Heritage Commission, as an integral part of our mission, TRAILS & SAILS raises regional awareness of Essex County’s resources, encourages visitation, and fosters stewardship and preservation of its heritage sites. The free event expands cultural tourism by bringing new audiences to dozens of historic sites and open spaces, and stimulating new business in the local economy.
TRAILS & SAILS takes place each September, just North of Boston, inviting you to enjoy the diverse experiences that led to this region’s designation as a National Heritage Area. Residents and visitors alike explore the many cultural, historic, and natural sites during two weekends of 100+ FREE events featuring a variety of walks, guided hikes, sails, historical tours, and adventures!
